Outside: Inside

12 April 2008 - 17 May 2008

In this installation by Rachelle Pedersen, intricately created works have been created from cotton and wool yarns using a Macrame technique. Referring to the internal structures of the body, finely knotted channels appear to spread across the human form.

Alluding to the functional aspects of the human body, Pedersen's work creates a dialogue between the importance we place on appearance and the internal reality of the human condition. Using the context of fashion, Inside: Outside is a wearable reminder that our body is a functioning organism. Pedersen questions the relevance of body adornment and the significance we place on the aesthetics of the external body.
