Light Vessels

“This body of work is part of an ongoing project related to ideas of mystery and shape-shifting represented by the spiral form.The vessels have been hand cast in concrete using white cement and a lightweight aggregate. After casting, characteristics of the individual vessels have been exploited, for example by invading weaknesses in the surfaces, piercing, wearing away, or exaggerating.
This strong connection between making and outcome, contrasts with my previous work, which has tended to focus on furniture objects designed for consistent replication where making is delegated to others. As a result, my exploration in these works has been one of process as much as of form.”
