Vonney Ball

12 June 2006 - 08 June 2006

Vonney Ball’s diverse collection of earthenware vessels have there foundations in a classical aesthetic. Her influences have generally focused on European art, history and architecture, which have also subsequently informed the shapes, forms and imagery she has developed in her practice. Ball has experimented with a variety of references in her work with centerpieces such as urns or lidded jars becoming her preferred representative forms.

A principal motivation in Ball’s work has been an exploration of process, which has been further informed by the introduction of slipcasting as a core element of her production. The exploration of surface decoration and treatments such as transfers, lustres and matt glazes has allowed Ball to add a sense of greater depth to her work.
