Visible Histories – 19 September - Warwick Freeman
”I gave this lecture at the Zimmerhof Symposium in Germany earlier this year. This event for contemporary jewellers has been held annually in a small Bavarian village for the past 40 years. This year the symposium theme was Jewellery Histories/Stories (Schmuckgeschichten) .My lecture combines personal stories about New Zealand jewellery history with some thoughts on the place of jewellery in art history.”
WARWICK FREEMAN has been a jewellery maker since 1972. A partner in Auckland's
jewellery co-operative Fingers 1978 - 2003. Has works are in museum collections
in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the USA. He was made a Laureate of the
New Zealand Arts Foundation and the Françoise van den Bosch Foundation,
Amsterdam in 2002.Works and lives in Devonport, Auckland.

Anna Miles established Anna Miles Gallery in 2003. She is a senior lecturer in the School of Art and Design at AUT University.
Why do the crafts need a think tank? - 26 September, 28 September, 3 October - Liesbeth den Besten and Love Jönsson
Liesbeth den Besten (The Netherlands) and Love Jönsson (Sweden) are members of Think Tank: A European Initiative for the Applied Arts, a group of critics, scholars and makers formed in 2004. In this talk they present the group's aims and its various activities. They will discuss the need for an increased international exchange in the fields of craft criticism and theory, and point to possibilities and issues within the field.

Jeff Shapiro is the judge of the 2007 Portage Ceramics Award. He currently lives in upstate New York where he makes wood fired ceramics.
Six go to China – 3 October - Moyra Elliott
Earlier in 2007 Moyra Elliot led a party of six New Zealand ceramists to Fuping in central China. There they made and installed the first ceramic work from New Zealand in the new and specially built Australasian Ceramics Museum.
